Managing Allegations against adults (2025)
Course Description
Managing allegations against adults is one of the most complex and high-stakes areas of safeguarding practice. For Designated Safeguarding Leads, senior leaders, and governors, knowing how to respond quickly, lawfully, and proportionately is essential to protect both children and staff while maintaining confidence in safeguarding systems.
Managing Allegations Against Adults provides participants with a clear, structured understanding of statutory expectations, the role of the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), and the practical steps required when an allegation is made.
- Drawing on national data, real case examples, and best practice, this session explores how to:
- Understand the statutory framework and the LADO process
- Recognise patterns and prevalence of child sexual abuse and professional misconduct
- Identify the “pool of unsuitable adults” and early indicators of boundary violations
- Respond appropriately to concerns, disclosures, and allegations against staff
- Maintain a culture of vigilance, transparency, and safeguarding assurance across the organisation
